Rev. Anderson was born in Sipe Springs, Texas. He was a resident of Brownwood, Texas most of his life. Robert was in the U. S. Army during World War II. He pastured churches in Brown and Mills County for many years. He was also self-employed as a carpenter. Rev. Anderson was a member of the Harvet Time Tabernacle. He married Dorothy Lee Denton on May 18, 1939 in Brownwood, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1978. He later married Elsie Loehmann, who also preceded him in death in 2005.

Ray passed away at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. He is survived by five sons; a sister-in-law a stepdaughter; two stepsons; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Rankin Anderson and Ina and John Wesley Paul; his wives; a daughter, Rebekah Anderson; three brothers; a stepdaughter, Doris Zangas ;and two stepsons, Earl and Ronald Reid.
